The area is famous for wine production, truffles, particularly the white truffle of Alba, the amazing landscape, the cooking and especially the novels of authors Pavese and Fenoglio. The territory is filled with ancient castles and winemaking vineyards specialized in native tendrils such as barolo, barbaresco, dolcetto, nebbiolo and arneis. Other than the traditional town festivals which mark the festive periods in the smaller villages, the city of Alba stands out for two events: Vinum in the spring and the Truffle Fair in autumn.
